History
Troy has a long history of farming,including dairy,wool and hay. Electric trolley service from Detroit ran through the township until 1931. Commercial and industrial development reached Troy only after World War II.

The Troy Historic Village enables visitors to glimpse life in the township as it was in the 1800s. A town hall,a log cabin,a Greek Revival house,a printing shop,waggon shop,and quaint church and parsonage from the turn of century are among the carefully restored structures. Metz noted that he is always looking for donations of old photos of buildings or landscapes from the Weesaw area to add to the collection. A 1970 Unesco agreement protects the artifacts from being returned.

Troy is one of Metro Detroit’s largest malls. There are also several regional and national corporate headquarters in Troy,as well as a variety of family-owned and local businesses.
There are also parks for those who enjoy the outdoors. These include everything from baseball and tennis courts to basketball and soccer fields. Even a golf course,a nature center and a lake are available.

Troy is a bustling business and commerce center with dozens of major companies,several offices,and a 1.4-million-square-foot shopping mall (the Somerset Collection). Two golf courses,as well as a nature centre and thousands of acres in parks are also available.
The Troy Recreation Complex is a full-service center with a 127,000 square-foot indoor pool,fitness center,locker rooms,dance/aerobics studios,shuffleboard court,meeting rooms,and a seniors center. Kids Korner childcare for fitness members is also available.
